Wonderful investigating paper. I have been implied in reviewing and contributing to many PM standards (PMI, IPMA, ISO, BSI) and I am still working in the field, the last standard in which I have been heavily implied was BSI BS 6079:2019.
The PM world changes fast and many of today's concepts will be corrected or replaced in the next years so many PM standards and BoKs will be continuously reviewed and updated. The respective committees and boards will have a lot of work to be done, especially due to the fast deployment of the large national programs like Industry 4.0, Industry 5.0 or Society 5.0.

Thank you for your observations. I hope the new ISO 21502, which will be published soon, moves us in the important direction you indicated: https://www.iso.org/standard/74947.html
You mentioned "Due to its commercially oriented expansive "playing to win" growth strategy, a U.S. competitor now dominates the international certification market and international standardization in ISO."
We were very careful to be agnostic and not tied to certain ideologies with ISO 21502. I believe that the new standard is more aligned with the international project management community, following in the direction of IPMA.

Thank you Peter for your comments. The new standard 21502 “Guidance on project management”, superseding the previous ISO 21500, is indeed an important step forward and more aligned with the international project management community. I am looking forward to working with you and all ISO/TC258 members creating truly international project management standards.
